iPhone App Updated

Those of you that shelled out 59p on our iPhone app will be pleased to know our app has recently been updated to a new version. In this version, the weird bug with the gig schedule page has been fixed, which is rather satisfying. Gigs now appear on the correct date, which is reet good for potential gig attendees.

We'll be uploading some more photo, audio and games content over the next month or so. We know theres been quite a few folks investing in the app, and we'd love to hear your feedback! What else would you like from a YAK app?

We're off into our newly named studio, The Nest tomorrow. Me and Dunc were trying to block out all traces of daylight using cardboard the other day. Some of it has fallen down. The place is littered with bottles. It's good to be getting back in there again. Need to record new songs, and also continue work on various new things that are bouncing around.

Anyway. iPhone App, Updated. Bug fixed. Enjoy.

Bon Weekend!
Allan

GIG : Classic Grand, Glasgow 11th September 2009

We're playing a wee impromptu show in Glasgow on Friday September 11th. We didnt have any gigs planned, but the guys from The Ocean Fracture recommended us, which is pretty damn cool of them!

We are currently working on new material and beginning to book dates for our delayed tour of England in late November/early December.

Here's the setlist we'll be performing on the night:

The bridge between birth and death
Goliath (new song)
This could last forever
In Amber
Meatshield (new song)
Sick of ants

That's two brand new songs, and 4 cuts from our album for less than the price of 2 pints. Plus 2 more bands! You know it's all good.

Tickets are available from the band and from avalanche records, Glasgow.

GIG: Friday 11th September, Glasgow!

We were all set for a couple of months of studio-based tomfoolery, but we have been asked to play the following:

Classic Grand, Glasgow : Friday September 11th

This show is happening thanks to the crackin chaps known as The Ocean Fracture. Be sure to check them out, we played with them recently in Glasgow and they damn near obliterated the place. They deserve your support!

Diageo / Johnnie Walker Protest Rally in Kilmarnock

We left nice and early, making sure we had plenty of time to soundcheck before the 20,000 odd protestors arrived for the march. But we didn't count on all our get getting locked in the van, a mere 20 yards from the stage.

YAK TV : Ascension in Aberdeen

These guys TOTALLY saved the day when we recently played aberdeen. Stef tracked them down in a rehearsal room on the Saturday afternoon, asking them if they could play a show in 5 hours time.

They did, and boy were we delighted when they happened to be the BEST BAND IN THE WORLD.

Enjoy this last element of our Tour documentary shenanigans. There's gonna be another chance for the folks of Aberdeen to catch this line-up, in the same venue - cellar 35 - on Saturday 8th August!

Next up, we'll have the footage from our launch night for "Stop Whispering" at Stereo within the next few days featuring the wonderful sounds of Dead Otter, Bronto Skylift and Le Reno Amps! As ever, stay tuned!

Keep Johnnie Walker in Kilmarnock!

Yesterday afternoon, after a morning of torrential rain, we helped bring the sunshine out for 20,000+ Kilmarnock protestors at a rally to protest the potential 700+ layoffs planned by Diageo at the local Johhnie Walker plant. Read all about it right here!

UPDATE: Special Johhnie Walker YAK TV Episode coming soon!

Eyesight For The Blind

Hello torrent downloaders! Remember to buy the actual cd to hear the FINAL MIX of the album. What you've downloaded is NOT the FINAL VERSION, but a work in progress.

We have new T-shirts, Hoodies and Tote Bags for your purchasing satisfaction, retailing for the low prices £8, £12 and £6 respectively. Shirts and Hoodies come in a variety of sizes. Go to the MERCH PAGE for your retail thrills.

Our gig in Kilmarnock tomorrow will be a one-off performance as a three-piece due to Keefs lazer eye surgery earlier today. The new-look Keef (unlike the bearded one spotted earlier this week) will next be seen on our Scottish Mini-Tour, which will see us revisit Inverness, and also make our first YAK excursions to both Dundee and Aberdeen. June 4th, 5th and 6th!

And in one last piece of news, here's how i imagine Keef to look, post surgery. Photograph taken by Alex Woodward, he who fear not the lazers gaze.

News splooge!

Oh jeez, i'm sorry. I've been so busy with mixing and mastering the album, and trying to get the next couple of YAK tv episodes finished, and working on the album artwork that i've neglected this poor, poor website.

Well, here's some news for you. Our debut album "Stop Whispering" is currently being magically placed into the lap of musical gurus everywhere. We're excited about people finally hearing this music.

We'll be releasing a limited edition copy of "Fireworks For New Beginnings" on CD in time for our next batch of gigs. This will be free, and very limited, so grab em while you can.

Our album comes out in June, and we already have a launch night planned! Thursday 18th June at Stereo in Glasgow will see us celebrate the release of "Stop Whispering". We've got our favourite Bronto's on the bill too in the shape of BRONTO SKYLIFT. One more band TBC. We're finding it hard to decide!

We've been gigging a bit more regularly recently. Thanks to everyone who has come to see us, we hope you've enjoyed our selection of noises!

More soon, including a new website.....

Ahoy!

Everyone loves boats, right?

This band LOVES boats!  We've all got at least 4 boats each.  It's no coincidence that our first gig  in absolutely fucking aaaaages is taking place on a BOAT!  A lovely boat at that.

THIS SATURDAY : RENFREW FERRY, GLASGOW

De Rosa (Chemikal Underground)
You Already Know (Mister Tramp)
Mitchell Museum (Mister Tramp)
and
Evan Crichton (Mr Mister Tramp)

£5 entry, we shall all set sail at 8pm.

The theme of the evening (apart from BOATS) is COVER VERSIONS!  We've got some excellent stuff lined up, ranging from chart pop to early 90's metal to 70's rock.  And a few YAK originals too!  How can you possibly resist?

Looking forward to seeing you there.
